Really, I never thought I’d watch anything with ‘Candy Boy’ as a title… but that just goes to show that one should NEVER judge an anime by its title… I mean, wtf does BLEACH say about Ichigo and co.?

Strictly speaking, you really can’t consider this an anime ‘coz it only lasts 7 minutes and 39 seconds. It’s more of a promotional short… an ONA to be exact (ONA apparently stands for ‘Original Net Animation’). According to ANN ‘Candy Boy’ is supposed to be the first ‘Anime 2.0′ (what that means, I have absolutely no idea). The only thing I know is that I absolutely LOVE this short.

The short revolves around the twins Yukino and Kanade. They’re twins and they’re absolutely and undeniably in love with each other. When I first heard that something entitled ‘Candy Boy’ had shoujo ai in it, I immediately thought ‘Fan Service’ and was a bit reluctant to watch it, but I figured it was only 7 minutes so it couldn’t be ‘that’ bad. I’m glad that I didn’t let the title dissuade me. Candy Boy is pure WIN!

Here is a breakdown of this 7-minute gem:

00:11 = We start off with the interaction between the twin sisters. Some cute dialogue involving boobs…

1:15 = we hear about a ‘cute freshman’ Kanade looks worried

1:35 = Kanade listens to a friend as said fried speculates about Sakuya confessing her feelings to Yukino

3:20 = we get a peek into their past showing that they’ve always been close

4:10 = Kanade suggests that the two of them sleep on separate beds effectively distancing herself from her sister.

5:30 = Sakuya confronts Kanade. This is now on my list of top 10 most favorite ‘confession scenes’ in Anime.

6:20 = we get the real story behind Sakuya. Apparently, its Kanade she’s after.

7:10 = things are back to normal with Sakuya still stalking kanade

Apparently no one took the time to tell poor Sakuya that Kanade is taken. Poor Kanade.
